Lead Product Designer

Sunbound is seeking a designer to join its team and aid with the development of its core product. This is the first design role at Sunbound, and will carry a lot of opportunities to work closely with the founders and shape company direction, product and culture. Ideal candidates will be opinionated about product development and how best to implement different solutions.

Sunbound is building the “financial OS for senior care”. The senior living market is over $230bn and is expected to grow rapidly as the “baby boomer” generation continues to age. Currently, broken senior care payments processes increase costs for operators and stress for families.

Sunbound was created to solve this problem by building the first modern platform to handle this process end-to-end and save operators and families time, money and effort. Our mission is to help families by reducing the cost and confusion of senior living, and we are building the team to provide senior living operators with tools for effortlessly tracking their operations and revenue, and for families to effortlessly pay for care. This will allow you to interact with, and design products for, both consumer and business end users.

Responsibilities

As a lead product designer, you will…

• Be responsible for all aspects of product design from user research through wireframing, prototyping, high fidelity and shipment
• Deeply understand our operators and families by planning and conducting generative research
• Partner closely with engineering team to ship impactful, useful, and stunning features and products
• Own and understand testing and improvement of the experiences you design, through metrics and usability testing
• Provide input into how offline processes can best be implemented in product
• Build our brand by executing designs to a high level of polish and professionalism
• Help shape the product and design teams as it grows over time. Be a part of the hiring process and mentor junior designers.

Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years of product design experience
• Experience at fintech companies a major plus
• Up-to-date with leading design stack, best practices, and trends
• Ability to empathize with a complex, overwhelmed, and often older user-base
• Clear communication and collaboration skills
• Expert with Figma, Adobe CC, and prototyping
• A design portfolio with case studies is strongly encouraged
• Skill and/or interest in branding, motion design, illustration, print
• Bachelor degree or equivalent in a design or related field a plus
